Pre-enlistees who have registered for NS are invited to indicate their interest in various NS vocations in the Singapore Armed Forces, Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Police Force.

Every full-time national serviceman is deployed to a vocation based on his suitability, skills, interests, and the operational requirements of the SAF, SCDF, and SPF. Find out more about how to indicate your interest and the various NS vocations.

  2. Register for NS and indicate interest in vocations on OneNS before medical screening

What does indicating interest in vocations involve?

  • There are 7 categories of vocations, 3 from SAF, 2 from SCDF, 2 from SPF.

  • Pre-enlistees may indicate interest in 2 or more vocations in each category.
    Pre-enlistees may also indicate they have no specific interest.

  • Deployment is based on manpower and operational requirements, and the pre-enlistee's medical fitness, cognitive attributes, skills and interest.

After receiving Enlistment Notice

  1. Enlist into SAF, SCDF or SPF

  2. Undergo basic training

  3. Check posting order

Every full-time national serviceman plays an important role regardless of the vocation to which he is deployed, and will have an opportunity to contribute to the nation defence and security of Singapore.
